The three revenue leaks hiding inside a WooCommerce store

Most growth problems show up as traffic pressure, but the real leak is usually conversion, basket size, or repeat purchase behavior.

Traffic is rarely the first problem to fix

When a store feels stuck, the instinct is often to buy more traffic, change agencies, migrate platforms, or redesign everything. Those moves can work, but only after the store is clear about where revenue is leaking. A WooCommerce brand can have strong demand and still lose money because the buying system is not converting attention into profitable orders.

Leak one: conversion friction

Conversion leaks appear when qualified visitors reach the store but do not get enough clarity, confidence, or momentum to buy. The issue may be page speed, weak above-the-fold messaging, missing proof, confusing variants, a thin offer, or a checkout path that asks too much too early.

Leak two: weak basket architecture

AOV leaks happen when customers are willing to buy, but the store gives them no sensible reason to buy more. Bundles, thresholds, gifts, subscriptions, and complementary products should be designed around margin and buying behavior, not added as generic promotion mechanics.

Leak three: neglected repeat revenue

Retention leaks are common in replenishable categories because teams assume repeat purchase will happen naturally. It rarely does. The customer needs the right reminder, education, offer, and timing based on how the product is actually used.
